“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
The news has always been at its core a noble profession. It has the ability to bring truth hidden in the darkness to light.
Isaiah writes in chapter 52 about the much wished for good news of deliverance from Israel’s Babylonian captors. You can imagine how the messenger yells and proclaims this beautiful news throughout the city and country side; “Salvation has finally come to the land! God rescues and God reigns!”
As Jesus followers, we have the privilege to be messengers of a news far greater than freedom from an earthly captivity. We bring the good news of freedom from an eternal captivity! What great news to a broken and enslaved humanity! The shame and guilt of sin that enslaves humanity can be removed by the good news of a savior God!
I want to encourage you today to be that messenger. You don’t have to pick up and move to a faraway land, in fact God has called most of us to stay right where we are to be messengers of hope for Him. I wonder what would happen if we became intentional about delivering this message?
What if instead of just serving beans at your local Starbucks you prayed over those beans? What if you prayed God would put people in your path today that would buy those beans? And what if you prayed that those beans would lead to a gospel conversation? Imagine what could happen if we prayed, “God use these regular old beans to be a gateway to a life changing conversation about you!” Now those would be some blessed beans!
So let me ask you a question;
Who was the last person you delivered this message to? I’m not taking about, “Hey come to church with me.” I’m talking about sharing your story of deliverance with them. Who was that last person?
You see if Jesus is going to be made known in our cities it takes ordinary people proclaiming an extraordinary God. It takes people praying and looking for opportunities over team meetings and lunch appointments, conference calls and office karaoke’s, bathroom breaks and even coffee beans! This news is too good not to intentionally proclaim!
Who at your work needs to be prayed over?
How can you leverage your work to share the Good News of Jesus?
How can you leverage your circle of influence to make disciples for the cause of Jesus?
